NUBS
NUBS IS…
NUBS is the Nevada Ultramarathon Bicycling Society and we like to ride bicycles… a lot.
Started by Erik Skramstad and Scott Dakus in 2004, we simply desire to share what we have learned and draw
people into the most rewarding tangent of our sport. We invite all who dare, to seek out and reach their
full potential while casting aside every factor that may otherwise limit that success. Our bicycles are
ridden over any road, any day, and in any weather; safely and enjoyably.
We are good ambassadors of our sport; happy to teach, eager to learn, and always willing to share.
We welcome, encourage, and aid ALL cyclists in any way we can. Your input is welcomed at any time and
we will use your help when you volunteer it. Also, nobody gets left behind.
Most training rides are not too long and are conducted at a livable pace.
Our goal is to motivate local area cyclists to ride longer rides. We do this by simply removing each
and every obstacle keeping cyclists from doing just that. Whether it is hydration, nutrition,
physical limitations, clothing, equipment, or just a sore butt, we strive to overcome and carry on.
The reality to this is it usually involves a bit of work; consequently, we work.
You'll find that we ride when we say we will ride - in the sun, rain, early morning, late night,
freezing cold, stove hot, and usually in the wind. We may not be as swift in the cold or rain,
but there are ways to get'er done safely, stay relatively comfortable, and have a lot of fun.
After a ride over Sitgreaves pass and through Oatman, Arizona, you will have a story to share
that others will want to hear. After you ride from Las Vegas to St. George, Utah,
you'll realize that every second of pain in the last 135 miles was worth descending Beaver Pass
through a stunning red rock canyon. After completing the Furnace Creek 508,
you may have a book to write. Get on your bike and start making memories.
